Katryn Bermudez
PVEF President
Katryn Bermudez is a 5th grade teacher in PVUSD. She earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Washington, Seattle. Her classroom focuses on empowering students and families through reflective goal setting, culturally responsive teaching and small group instruction.

Julie Edwards
PVEF Secretary
Julie Edwards serves in PVUSD as the coordinator of Career Technical Education. She earned master’s degrees in counseling and student services as well as administration and supervision from San Jose State University. Julie’s work focuses on creating access, connections and capacity with teachers, students, local industry and the community all focused on the futures PVUSD students deserve.

Dr. Jennifer Holm
PVEF Treasurer
Jennifer Holm was elected as a Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board Trustee for Area VII in 2018 and is currently serving as the Board’s Vice-President/Clerk. She is a Registered Nurse, a Cabrillo College Nursing Instructor, and a Board Member of the California Nurses Association. Her years of patient and healthcare worker advocacy has given her a deep appreciation for education as a foundation for a full and healthy life.
Her commitment is working toward an education system that supports students in reaching their potential for vibrant and meaningful lives, that in turn empower the community as a whole.
She lives in Aptos, with her husband and three children, and considers herself blessed to have a full life.

Les is a retired school administrator currently serving as a CTE partner for PVUSD’s Tiny Home Initiative.
He is a proud alumnus of Cabrillo College and San Jose State University, a Navy veteran, and remains invested in numerous local efforts that support students, educators, and community well being.
Alicia Vazquez
PVEF Board Member
Alicia is a full time teacher at Braly Elementary. She serves in various committees and associations that promote equity and strive to close the achievement gap for multilingual students. She has served as Summer High School Principal, Coordinator for the Hispanic STEAM Project, Educational Technology Teacher on Special Assignment, and Literacy Coach. She is a Watsonville High alumnus.

Dr. Heather Contreras
PVEF Board Member
Dr. Contreras, Superintendent for PVUSD, served as Assistant Superintendent School Leadership, Senior Director of Educational Services and Principal of Modesto City Schools. She was also an Adjunct Instructor at California State University, Stanislaus and Principal at Delhi Unified School District. “As a Superintendent, students are always at the center of my decision-making process. My work involves fostering meaningful partnerships with students, families, staff, and community partners to enhance learning environments, promote community engagement, and support students in fulfilling their aspirations.”

PVEF Board of Directors should be between 5 and 9 members. Two (2) directors shall be designated by PVUSD’s Superintendent. For the remaining directors, each member of the PVUSD’s Board of Trustees shall have the right to serve as a director or to designate one representative from the member’s Trustee Area to serve as a director, except that no more than three (3) Trustees may serve as directors at the same time. Each director designated by a Trustee shall serve at the pleasure of the Trustee that appointed him or her to serve as a director.
