Contest Guidelines

Our contest is open to Pajaro Valley Unified School District (PVUSD) Kindergarten through 12 grade students. (Immediate family members of Pajaro Valley Education Foundation (PVEF) are not eligible.

These are the following categories you can participate in K-1, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Entries must have the theme “My Life in Ten Years.” (see details for the theme below).

Artwork must be a student’s original artwork – Artists, when sharing their artwork, need to write an Artist Statement (a short paragraph explaining what inspired them). If they need help, a teacher, parent, or someone else can assist in writing or translating this. Please note this if this is the case. It’s not allowed to copy or change pictures made by someone else for the competition. If students use someone else’s picture, their artwork must look quite different otherwise it won’t be accepted. Finally, the artwork should be made only by the student without any help from others.
Size – Original artwork must not exceed 8 x 10 inches in size. Acceptable art media are: digital art, paint, pencil, markers, ink, crayon, chalk or pastel (fixed), stop motion, and collages.
Students must upload their digital artwork or a photo of their physical art by 5:00 pm Pacific Daylight time. Students may enter various pieces as long as they complete a separate entry form for each one. Approval by parents of guardians is required. Winners will be notified on April 15, 2024 to the email address given on the entry form.
If your physical artwork wins or gets an honorable mention in a grade or category, students will need to turn in the original artwork to their school office. Artwork will be kept by the Pajaro Valley Education Foundation for a year and will be displayed in various spaces throughout Santa Cruz County.
